Is it ever okay: ordering extra drinks right before happy hour ends?

There are those questions you’d like to ask, but don’t always dare to. Luckily, we’re here for you. Not only to ask these pressing questions about life, but also to answer them as best we can. This time: is it okay to quickly order extra drinks just before happy hour ends?

Laura: “Of course! Isn’t that what happy hour is for?”
Sabina: “I think it’s probably allowed, but I wouldn’t really dare. The same embarrassment as eating out with a Groupon voucher.”
Laura: “I have to be completely honest: I only take advantage of Happy Hour when I’m abroad, already drunk far too early, and walk into a club or bar where you wouldn’t want to be found dead sober. In places like that, I have zero shame. Ordering more right before the bell rings? Absolutely. I’m on vacation, too. #teambuyingmore”
Lauretta: “Definitely. It’s only happy hour for an hour, right!”
Sabina: “I absolutely wouldn’t do it, because I simply don’t dare. And then I sit there, keeping one eye on the other tables where they’ve quickly ordered another pitcher of margaritas. I find it too awkward.”
Lauretta: “Back when I was still a poor student, we sometimes ordered entire crates of beer right before the end.”
Sharon: “You’re crazy if you don’t do it, but if a date did that, I’d still be turned off. Is that weird or fucking hypocritical?”
Steffi: “I wouldn’t be particularly charmed if my date took me to a happy hour place anyway. On the first date, I mean. After that, great.”
Sabina: “I’ve been thinking about it: I’ve only been somewhere with happy hour once, so maybe you shouldn’t count my opinion. It was on vacation in China. I had five cocktails and then petted a camel, but the next day no one knew anything about a camel having been there, and I wondered whether camels even occur in China, so it was quite a mysterious situation.”
