That’s according to an American scientific study. It examined the similarities between the participants’ personalities and their spicy eating habits.

Adventurous and self-confident

The results show that if you like spicy food, you enjoy trying new things (around 76%), such as travelling to places you’ve never been before. It’s no surprise that the spicy-lovers also describe themselves as adventurous, creative and self-confident. That last quality was further confirmed by the fact that more than 60% consider themselves attractive. In addition, people who like spicy food are twice as likely to follow a vegetarian or vegan diet (36%) compared with someone who doesn’t eat spicy food (13%). According to the participants, vegetarian or vegan food is seen as a more adventurous diet, which ties in seamlessly with their self-proclaimed adventurous character.

Written in the stars

On the other hand, people in the study who don’t eat spicy food or eat less of it describe themselves as empathetic and occasionally shy. They are calm but curious. Those who don’t eat spicy food also prefer dogs to cats (something to do with red wine?). In addition to personality traits, there’s also a greater chance that your zodiac sign is Virgo if you like spicy food. People born under Leo go for medium-spicy, while when it comes to Sagittarians, all spiciness can be left out.
