It’s happening: McDonald’s goes vegan

Please pinch me. Did I read this correctly? Yes, it’s really true: soon you’ll be able to go to McDonald’s for a vegan menu. Vegan. At McDonald’s. Big news, if you ask me.

Veggie dippers
It’s all happening on January 2, 2020, in England. That’s when the veggie dippers will be introduced, which you can order separately or as part of your happy (vegan) meal. The croquettes are filled with bell pepper, rice, sun-dried tomato pesto and peas. The menu has been approved by the Vegan Society. This means they will also be prepared in a separate section of the kitchen, away from the meat products.
Veganuary
Mac didn’t choose January 2 as the launch date for their new vegan baby for no reason. That’s also when Veganuary starts again: the initiative that encourages people to adopt a vegan lifestyle. Go vegan in January—and perhaps you’ll stick with it. Want to join in? Take the pledge!
We’re lagging behind
Whether you’re vegan or want to become one, there’s still one small hurdle to overcome before you can enjoy the veggie dippers. Because for now, they aren’t available in the Netherlands. We regularly bring you fun vegan McNews here at FavorFlav, but it’s never about us. For example, the vegan nuggets are available in Norway, while the McVegan is available in Sweden and Finland. Dutch options? They don’t exist. So chop chop, McDonald’s Netherlands—take a leaf out of your colleagues’ book abroad!
