Jackpot! Sardinia is giving everyone who moves to the island €15,000

Have you always wanted to live on a beautiful island, or would you simply prefer to make money the easy way? Then book a one way ticket to Sardinia and move there. You’ll even get €15,000 on top of that. Whut? Yes, this is seriously true.

Sardinia has been struggling with villages becoming completely deserted for years, and they really want to do something about it now. And well, apparently they can’t manage to keep people there, so what works better than the age-old trick called bribery? The government has budgeted no less than €45 million for this, so it’s a pretty major project.
Of course, there are a few ‘rules of the game’, namely:
- The municipality you choose may have no more than 3,000 residents
- You have until 2024 to take advantage of this ‘offer’
- The €45 million budget means approximately 3,000 people can benefit from this offer
- Once you have bought a home in a village, you must move there within eighteen months
Let’s go
And what about that €15,000? You get it completely free of charge, as a grant to help purchase or renovate the house. And no, you don’t have to pay it back to the government. I have no idea how this works from a tax perspective or how long you have to live there to qualify, but it sounds wonderful to me to spend half the year in beautiful Sardinia. And it’s still a whole lot more affordable than houses here. I say: let’s goooo.
