Keivet: you can now apply to be a judge for The Tastiest Brabant Sausage Roll

Dreamjob alert! You can now apply to be a consumer judge for the election of The Tastiest Brabant Sausage Roll. Spending an entire afternoon tasting Brabant sausage rolls and then sharing your opinion about them? Uhm, yes please.

But be warned: it is a serious task. Because if you thought it was simply a matter of eating sausage rolls and saying whether you like them or not, you would be performing your role as a judge inadequately. Omroep Brabant spoke to Pieter, who was a judge for the 2022 election (this was the winner of that edition, by the way), and according to him, there are plenty of things to look out for as a professional sausage-roll judge.
For example, it is important that the sausage is well seasoned and not too salty, and that it does not contain too much nutmeg. It is also not appreciated if the roll is too wet, too sweet or too dry. And finally, the combination of sausage and bread must be perfect. Baking sausage rolls is a noble art.
PACE YOURSELF AND ENJOY
Pieter’s golden tip: don’t start too quickly. So control yourself instead of pouncing on the sausage rolls like a starving lion. Otherwise, you might not make it to the end, and that would be a shame. According to Pieter, pacing yourself and enjoying it are the keys to success.
