Lidl is now selling bitterballen filled with cheese and beer and they’re divine
Lidl is well on its way to becoming the best supermarket in the Netherlands, if you ask me. Not only because they’re the cheapest supermarket for organic products, have incredibly delicious bubbly for next to nothing, and have great dupes of Le Creuset pans, but also because of their delicious snack repertoire.
Take the oven-baked bitterballen filled with aged cheese and beer. WHUT? How delicious does that sound? And I’m also exactly the kind of person who immediately thinks they’re so much healthier because you make the balls in the oven (or Airfryer) instead of deep-frying them… With a little optimism in your belly, you could almost call it a very responsible snack. And if you look at it realistically: it’s not good for your waistline, but hey, we’re heading into winter, so that winter coat is allowed to arrive.
Bitterballen filled with cheese and beer… time to snack and drink!
These balls are going to be my standard go-to for drinks from now on. Besides the aged cheese & beer variety, there are also balls filled with wild mushrooms & hazelnut and balls filled with Black Angus beef. The packages contain 12 bitterballen, and a box costs 3.49 euros. Lidl, you’re doing great. There’s no other way to put it. Oh, and they’re only available temporarily, so off to Lidl—in a trot!
Oh, and Lidl, if you’re reading this: one small criticism. What’s going on with your cheese straw?!
