Lidl sells vegan ice cream that looks strikingly like Ben & Jerry’s
Yes, Lidl did it again. Every now and then you find a gem in this supermarket, and that can make me very happy. Because even though I don’t eat it often, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream really is one of my guilty pleasures.
My bank account is perfectly happy that I don’t eat it often, incidentally, because it is rather expensive. So that’s another reason I’m very happy about this: these Lidl varieties cost just € 2.99. And they’re completely vegan too!
Available in three flavours
In the freezer aisle you’ll find the flavours Cookie Dough, Peanut Butter & Cookies and Brownie Love. They are from the Vemondo brand, which doesn’t even try to hide where they got their inspiration from; even the packaging looks strikingly similar to the Ben & Jerry’s tubs — and of course, we secretly already know the flavours too.
What we also know from Ben & Jerry’s is that vegan ice cream can be very tasty. They have had it in their range for longer, and I happened to try it and found it very enjoyable. Well, sometimes imitation really is the best form of flattery, and in this case it is especially great for fans and their wallets. Everyone will be running to Lidl for this.
