Love lasagne? This hack will make it the best ever

Making a good lasagne is quite a project. Because after letting the Bolognese sauce simmer for as long as possible, you still have to build the whole dish. The key is not to use too much sauce, to use a dish that isn’t too large, and to pre-cook the lasagne sheets before they disappear between the red and white sauces.

Pre-cook them? Lasagne sheets? Isn’t that an Italian no-go? Perhaps. But it’s definitely a golden tip for making that bubbling dish of lasagne with crispy edges extra delicious.
This hack makes the most delicious lasagne
In the most common lasagne recipes, you use dried sheets. Because you place them between the layers of pasta sauce and béchamel, the moisture from the sauce cooks the sheets. But one oven is not the same as another. And so the cooking time can vary considerably. Too long means soggy sheets, while too short means overly firm sheets. And we’d rather avoid both.
Win-win
To prevent this, American chef Ina Garten has a tip: soak your lasagne sheets. Place them in the dish you’re going to make the lasagne in and pour in some boiling water. Let the sheets soak for a few minutes (this is often indicated on the packaging) and then drain them, so you can start assembling the lasagne. The result? Less time waiting for the oven and perfectly cooked lasagne sheets every time. Win-win, then!
