McDonald’s celebrates the comeback of the Maestro burger with a free concert in Maastricht
What do you get when you combine classical music, the Maestro Burger and McDonald’s? An evening to remember! McDonald’s is pulling out all the stops this festive season with the return of a beloved burger: the Maestro Truffle burger. This time, the comeback is being celebrated not only with a burger, but also with a unique free dinner show in Maastricht, complete with classical music.
McDonald’s is going all out in December. Alongside its own oliebol, developed by master pastry chef Robèrt van Beckhoven, the comeback of a much-loved burger is now also being celebrated in grand style.
The Maestro Burger is back
After numerous requests from McDonald’s fans, the Maestro Burger is temporarily back on the menu. And to celebrate this comeback, McDonald’s has something very special in store. On Wednesday evening, 10 December, the McDonald’s on Wycker Brugstraat in Maastricht will be transformed into a stylish concert hall for one evening. In collaboration with the Gabber Pianist and a classical ensemble, McDonald’s is offering a free dinner show, where guests can enjoy his music and the iconic Maestro Truffle burger meal.
Free dinner show with classical music
For one evening, the McDonald’s in Maastricht will be transformed into a chic restaurant with linen-covered tables, silver serving trays and a classical ambiance. Between 17:30 and 22:00, three 45-minute dinner shows will take place, during which the classical ensemble – including a violinist, cellist, wind player and the renowned Gabber Pianist Matthijs M. Wognum – will perform classical masterpieces by Bach and Chopin.
The Gabber Pianist
Matthijs M. Wognum, also known as the Gabber Pianist, is in the spotlight. His love of hardcore music combined with classical music has made him famous worldwide. As a fifty-year-old pianist in a tracksuit, he has already performed on major stages, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. His unique style, which makes classical music accessible to young people, is precisely what McDonald’s hopes to achieve with this event: bringing classical music closer to the next generation.

McDonald’s and the Maestros
Karin van Prooijen, Marketing Manager at McDonald’s Netherlands, explains why this concert is so special: “A free concert at our restaurant in Maastricht, the sacred ground of classical music in the Netherlands, seemed to us the ideal way to celebrate the comeback of this old classic. The Maestro is temporarily back on the menu at the request of many of our guests. Hopefully our Maestros will receive just as much of a standing ovation as André Rieu at the MECC.”
This special event brings classical music closer to everyone, and the Maestro Truffle burger will be the star of the evening. Music, culture and a hearty burger: sounds good, non?
