Never cold tea or coffee again

How often does it happen that I make myself a cup of tea, only for it to be far too hot to drink right away? I’ll wait a little, then. When I think of it an hour later, my drink has completely cooled down and goes straight down the drain. Sound familiar? This mug is the answer to all your problems.

With the Ember mug, you can set the temperature at which you want to keep your drink; anywhere between 49 ºC and 63 ºC. You simply set it remotely, using an app on your phone. I already think it’s pretty futuristic that there are kettles you can set to a specific temperature, but this mug takes things to a whole new level.
You do have to dig fairly deep into your pockets: the mug in question costs €99.95. Yep, you could also buy a razor-sharp knife, a top-quality frying pan or a food processor for that. So it’s quite an investment, but when you consider how much ice-cold tea or coffee you throw away on average, you might make your money back over the next ten years. Or not, but at least you’ll have a cool gadget to show your friends.
Caffeine consumption
For that price, you also get an app that connects to the mug. You can use it to set the temperature, but also to keep track of your caffeine consumption. You can then integrate that caffeine consumption into your HealthKit too—technology really is free these days, huh? The mug can also connect to your Apple Watch.
The ceramic mug holds 295 ml. I’d say that’s exactly enough for coffee, though serious tea drinkers will have to top it up regularly. Oh, and whatever you do, don’t put it in the dishwasher.
