New restaurant by Hotmamahot

As sad as we were when Dum Dum Palace closed, we were just as happy when Xampanyeria Centra and Pompet opened. The immensely popular restaurant group Hotmamahot has added another new restaurant to its list: Watergang.

I hate concept restaurants, where everything is often more about the looks than the food. The Hotmamahot restaurants are the exception. Whether it’s the lively ‘tapas bar’ Xampanyeria Centra or the French Pompet, their concepts are always executed tastefully and the food is excellent. With their newest restaurant, Watergang, they’re taking a completely different direction: simple and classic.
Table d’hôte
At the restaurant, they serve a monthly changing five-course menu featuring European cuisine. The emphasis is on French cooking. In winter, you’ll eat more rustic dishes, while in summer you’ll also taste influences from Italy and Spain in the fresher menu. No loud music and cocktail nights, but a classic table d’hôte.
Tim van Grootheest (Bord’Eau, Halvemaan and Xampanyeria Centra) and Mo Schuttel (Caffè Toscanini, Dum Dum Palace) run the place together, so we don’t need to worry about the food either. Sous-chef Mattijs Pasmans previously worked in the kitchen at RIJKS®. The promising restaurant opens on Friday, 18 January. There’s room for only 40 people per evening, so book your table soon.
