Open a pack of spaghetti in one second? Here’s how

zak pak spaghetti

Because we’re culinarily professionally deformed, we naturally find TikTok videos about cooking and food the most fun. Especially when there’s a sort of surprise element involved—for example, when the person sharing a cooking tip or hack isn’t necessarily young, as you might expect from TikTok, but you discover that the platform also has an amazing OG nonna

And that old Italian nonna, who goes by the username Nonna Elda Cooks, shows in this video something so incredibly simple that you may wonder why you haven’t always done it this way:

Tranquilo

And no, it’s not earth-shattering, and you don’t need to feel like you’re being watched as if you’ve always done it wrong. Take it easy—that’s what nobody is saying. But do you ever find yourself struggling with a pack of spaghetti and a pair of scissors, or tearing open one of those packs with your fingers while hoping it doesn’t tear too far because how on earth are you supposed to store the rest? Nonna Elda can put your mind at ease.

Bam

A simple smack of the upright plastic pack on the counter, that’s it! Just bam, without hesitation, and of course held firmly in your fist. The only question that remains is how to close the pack if you don’t use all the spaghetti, but if we’re reading Nonna Elda correctly, she probably never has that problem because there are always five grandchildren coming over for dinner.

Top hack, then! And if you’d like more cooking tips from Nonna Elda, be sure to check out the other TikTok videos featuring her, because this knowledge is worth its weight in gold.
