5x the best TikTok tips and hacks of 2021, part 2

As a medium, TikTok has become virtually impossible to ignore as a source of handy kitchen and cooking tips. Remember that pasta with feta from the oven that apparently caused feta to sell out in some places? What a situation! But there are also countless great ideas to be found (and shared) when it comes to clever tricks, hacks and cleaning tips. This is part 2 of a series.

Because they’re almost impossible to keep up with: all the tips, recipes and hacks that those helpful TikTokers have ready for you. These five hits are some of the best of 2021, so they’re definitely keepers:
Softening butter
There are plenty of handy tips for softening butter that you forgot to take out of the fridge while you want to bake cookies or cake right now. We described this tip earlier too, but for visual learners, a video like this is always useful!

Tomato paste
No more fiddling around with a little spoon in a can of tomato paste. With this trick, which our Lauretta reported on earlier, you can get every last bit of tomato paste out of the can in an especially neat way.

Perfectly round cookies
We described this tip earlier too, but perhaps not everyone has a round pastry ring at home (or one in the right size). That’s why we’re including the TikTok video below, to show that you can easily make perfectly round cookies with the help of a sturdy glass or a jam jar:

Clean pan bottoms
Cleaning the bottom of your frequently used pans—be honest, how often do you do that? Once you see this trick, you might suddenly feel like giving it a go! I found it a very useful video, at any rate. By the way, the ‘Dawn’ product they use is simply dish soap. It takes a few steps, but apparently you’ll end up with pans that look as if you’ve just bought them…

National pride
Because he’s one of the best culinary TikTokers from the Netherlands, we’re saving the best for last: on his account, hapjesvanmaurits, Maurits shares easy recipes for all kinds of delicious things. (That ginger beer, though—don’t you immediately want to make a Dark ‘n’ Stormy with it?!) We think his pesto puff-pastry cookies deserve all the praise: easy to make, yet impressive enough to wow people. The pizza wreath also falls into that category, so get making it!
