From sushi train to… cheese train!

In the heart of De Pijp in Amsterdam, opposite Marie Heinekenplein and on the corner where Taart van m’n Tante was located for 30 years, Kaasbar Amsterdam will be opening soon. And are you thinking, ‘Huh, a cheese bar, what am I supposed to imagine that to be?’ Think of a sushi train where you take sushi from the conveyor belt, but with cheese!

Dutch cheese

The owners, Mark, Thierry and Hademar, are true cheese lovers. Mark and Thierry come from a cheese-making family and have chosen to serve only (twenty) Dutch cheeses. Great, because an incredible number of wonderful cheeses come from the Netherlands, and they would love for you to taste them. The cheeses are sorted from mild to strong by group, and for the ultimate experience, eat the cheeses from white mold to blue mold.

Exciting combinations

For each cheese, they have come up with a special pairing that goes well with its flavor. How about a sheep’s cheese served with popcorn/caramel and an aged cumin cheese with curry mayo and lime zest? And of course, with every cheese you can also enjoy the perfect wine—or even beer!

Kaasbar Amsterdam will open in mid-February 2020. Jump on the cheese train and enjoy the ride!
