Ottolenghi announces new cookbook Comfort (and is coming to Amsterdam!)

Great news for all Yotam Ottolenghi fans! The popular chef has announced his much-anticipated new cookbook, called Comfort. And this promises to be another very special book; with more than 100 recipes, as well as many stories about his childhood. That is why he also calls this new book his ‘most personal’ one, alongside his book Jerusalem (from 2013).

The books Simpel and Flavour have become indispensable in many households (they also proudly sit in my cookbook cabinet, and Simpel received the award for Best Cookbook of All Time in 2023), but this one promises to become just as big a hit. I bought that one after visiting his restaurant NOPI in London, which I can really recommend: it is a beautiful place, but the food was so extraordinary. Surprising combinations, and so, so flavorful. Definitely worth a visit if you are in London, although I have also heard good things about his other restaurant ROVI (also in London).
Comfort food à la Ottolenghi
As the name suggests, this new book is all about comfort food, but with an Ottolenghi twist on top. One dish I am especially curious about is the ‘cheesy bread soup’ — doesn’t that sound heavenly? But caramelized onion orecchiette with hazelnut and (crispy) sage also sounds incredible. With Comfort, Ottolenghi wants to reinvent classic dishes. So no standard pizzas, pastas and casseroles; but rather food that makes you happy, with surprising combinations.
Ottolenghi is coming to Amsterdam
And a cookbook like Comfort naturally needs to be promoted, and yes: he is coming to do that in Amsterdam. And only the best of the best is good enough for a chef like Ottolenghi, which is why he will appear at AFAS Live on November 12. The year may have only just begun, but tickets are already on sale, via this link. It will undoubtedly be a special evening, especially if you reserve dinner seats , which provide access to a dinner beforehand at AFAS Live.
Comfort will be available from September 5, 2024, and you can already pre-order it in English via this site.
