Pawsome: these dog ice creams are truly amazing
Do you enjoy summer as much as we do? Today we’re hitting 29 degrees, simply wonderful! At least, for most of us, but for our loyal four-legged friends it’s bloody hot. And then an ice cream isn’t just the perfect way for you to cool down, but also for your doggie.
Ice cream: (most) dogs love it. FavorFlav’s Adeline‘s dog goes wild for ice cubes, and my neighbor’s dog has also licked up several dog ice creams over the past few days. They were very fancy ice creams, though: Ben & Jerry’s dog ice cream. We can certainly imagine that ice cream is a real treat for these animals when you’re served dry kibble, hard bones and raw meat 9 times out of 10.
One ice cream a day
No, then there’s the award-winning Jude’s Ice cream for dogs: the dog ice cream you can easily give your dog one of every day. Although we’re not in favor of a vegan diet for your pet—come on, let’s be reasonable—these plant-based ice creams are wonderful as a snack. Made with real fruit purée (strawberry purée and banana purée). Don’t be too generous, though; too much ice cream can cause stomach problems in some dogs, such as an upset stomach or vomiting.
Not cheap, but very tasty
It’s not cheap: you pay six euros for four tubs. But the ice cream looks so delicious that you have to restrain yourself from taking a bite. It won’t do any harm, but treat yourself to a Ferrero Rocher ice cream, a Biscoff Lotus ice cream or one of those old-school Lidl lemon ice creams.
Make your own dog ice cream
Of course, you can also make your own dog ice cream by freezing water with small pieces of dog-friendly fruit such as blueberries or banana slices. We’re sharing an easy recipe for strawberry ice creams for your beloved dog. You can also make delicious dog ice creams with frozen unsalted chicken or beef stock. Simply pour it into an ice cube tray for a tasty treat. Delicious refreshment and extra hydration for both you and your dog—pawsome tip, right?
