Restaurant Owner Takes Revenge on Customers Who Complain That the Sauce Isn’t Spicy Enough

Once upon a time… there was the owner of a fast-food restaurant who was completely fed up with people (uhm, actually just men) acting particularly cocky when eating the spicy chicken, claiming that ‘this was nothing’ and that they could handle it ‘much, much hotter’. Here’s a story of sweet revenge.

On the internet platform Reddit, someone once shared their story (the writer’s true identity was never uncovered, but testimonies did confirm that this really happened) about what turned out to be the solution to macho behavior around spicy chicken. And although it’s also a little pathetic, you’re perfectly entitled to snicker at it.

Hotshot show-offs

The thing was that certain behavior always occurred with certain people: whenever a certain type of man (jerks, according to the former owner) ordered the hot chicken, they would almost always indignantly huff that the hot sauce was nowhere near spicy enough for them. And that they were used to much, much hotter than these chicken wings, which were, after all, listed on the menu as suicide wings. The owner had a separate jar of sauce especially for these people…

Ghost pepper

Specifically, one containing the so-called ghost pepper – the pepper known as one of the hottest in the world. A gardening friend brought the owner of the chicken joint the chili peppers, which he used whole in a sauce for next-level hot chicken wings that he named death heads. And sure enough, every time a customer indignantly remarked that the regular suicide wings weren’t hot enough for him, the owner offered him one death head.

Plastic gloves included

Naturally, it would have been irresponsible not to add a disclaimer, so the owner explained at length what was about to happen. He gave the complainer plastic gloves to protect his skin. He explained in detail just how horribly hot the offering would be, and did everything he could, in short, to discourage the show-off from eating the chicken wing. Did that work, and did the macho men throw in the towel?

No escape

No. Almost all of them saw this attempt at intervention ‘as an insult to their masculinity’, according to the owner. And they went for it wholeheartedly. Now, it can take a few seconds for the terrible heat of certain peppers to truly register. In those few seconds, the show-offs had almost always already devoured the piece of chicken and had started acting cocky, saying that it ‘wasn’t so bad’. But as you may have noticed yourself – once it starts, there’s no escaping it. And according to the owner, not a single person ever complained about the lack of heat again after this experience, nor did anyone order a second death head.

And the pièce de résistance? These customers didn’t have to pay anything for the ‘extra’ piece of chicken. They only had to settle the bill for the glass of milk afterward. Twenty resounding dollars.
