Ring-ring: move over beer bike, here comes the gourmet bike

Gourmetfiets De Speld

Wahahahaha! Can you picture it? Just when we’ve finally been rid of the beer bike in the city (at least, I never see one anymore), satirical platform De Speld manages to cycle the ‘gourmet bike’ into the mix…

A few years ago, De Speld predicted this merger of two quintessentially Dutch pillars of our existence as ‘the latest hype for Christmas’. And honestly: we’d love to see this classic make a comeback this year!

The birth of the gourmet bike

The Brabant inventors are absolutely delighted with their brainchild, which they came up with during a gourmet session in their windowless drinking shack. After a coughing fit caused by the gourmet fumes and cigarette smoke, and seventeen beers later, the idea was born, as ‘Jeroen from Erp’ tells it.

Instant hit

According to De Speld, millions of people have already joined the hype; Jeroen and his group of friends have 9.1 million reservations, and 2.4 million people have started building their own gourmet bike.

Intense smoke

Handy, right? Never again a house full of gourmet smells, and you’ll immediately cycle off a few bacon calories and part of your future beer belly! Only motorists who get stuck behind a gourmet bike would be less enthusiastic, because of the smoke that no fog light can compete with.

Is this really true, and does it actually exist? No. It’s pure satire and irony from the platform known for poking fun at everything and everyone in a witty way. But whether it’s secretly a pretty good idea? We think so! Bring on that bike!
