Ron Blaauw launches special Veganuary Box in collaboration with Thuisbezorgd.nl

Ron Blaauw Thuisbezorgd box

Quitters Day—I had never heard of it, but apparently it’s the day—the second Friday of January—when people en masse give up on their good resolutions. They start drinking again (fu*ck Dry Januaryalcohol-free wine is simply awful too, right?), still don’t exercise AND start eating meat again—while research showed that as many as one in three Dutch people wanted to eat more vegan food or go fully vegan in 2023.* Especially to help people stick to those vegan resolutions, star chef Ron Blaauw is launching the Veganuary Box in collaboration with Thuisbezorgd.nl.

It’s not surprising that Ron Blaauw is launching a Veganuary Box. He has never hidden his interest in and love for vegetarian and vegan ingredients. For example, he was also one of the first in the Netherlands to put a 3D-printed steak on the menu. I’m not a fan of cultivated meat, or meat from a printer, but I do think what Ron is doing with it is remarkably clever.

This is what’s in the Veganuary Box

The Veganuary Box contains a range of vegan dishes with surprising flavors and ingredients: 4 samosas with ginger-chili sauce, 4 Korean Meatballs with sesame, kimchi, flatbread with a tub of tahini and a tub of hummus, a rice dish with tumis tempeh tahoe, and a Redefine Meat salad (yup, the printed meat that is also on the menu at Ron Blaauw) with citrus dressing. And honestly: as we know Ron Blaauw: it’s very tasty.

Available now

Starting today (Friday, January 13), the Veganuary Box is available exclusively via Thuisbezorgd.nl at Ron Gastrobar Streetfood locations in Amsterdam, Delft, and Rotterdam. The Veganuary Box also includes vegan Ben & Jerry’s x Tony’s Non-Dairy Chocolatey Love-A-Fair to finish the meal with a plant-based dessert.
