Measure twice, cut once is the carpenter’s adage. That goes doubly for kitchens, as you can see in these photos. Because one small measuring error and your refrigerator is dangling half a metre above the tiles – yes, not counting the skirting boards. Or the extractor hood ends up just not quite neatly above your hob. But sometimes it’s also a matter of taste (the ‘built-in’ refrigerator) or an unfortunate design decision (the mouldy tiles).
