SAY WHAT? You can already buy kruidnoten in the supermarket?!
Kruidnoten in June? Bring them on! In fact, the earlier they hit the shops, the longer and more of them you can eat (ye-hes!). Even though we’re still lying in our bikinis baking on the beach, this shop in Borne already has kruidnoten.
Last year, FavorFlav’s Sharon wondered whether it wasn’t a little too early for the Sinterklaas sweets to already be on the shelves. And despite the fact that, just like then, we’re now in the middle of a heatwave, the winter treat has already been available for two weeks at Medikamente Die Grenze in Borne. In an interview with the AD, sales assistant Justin tells us that they’re always early every year, but this early is a first even for them.
Look, there comes the steamboat
The bags, most of which were left over from last year, are now almost completely sold out. A handful of crunchy, hard little half-balls is also absolutely delicious with a cup of coffee, after all. Heatwave or not, if I get the chance, I’ll stock up on them, because pepernoten in June—what a treat! Want to get your hands on a bag too? Then you’ll have to head to Borne at lightning speed. Baking this year’s kruidnoten has already started, by the way, so who knows, you may soon find them in several more places!
