Single? This is why you should head to the supermarket as soon as possible

Now that pubs, clubs and carnival are also off the table in 2021, singles (and surely some slightly less single subjects too) are seeking solace elsewhere. The sexiest spot for some innocent flirting is (drumroll): the supermarket. Yes, really.

What a time to be alive. Whereas you used to head to Bubbels in Amsterdam to make sure you got some outrageous flirting in, these days you need to go to the Coop on Eerste Jan Steenstraat, according to research by dating app Happn.

How does Happn know this? From the activity taking place on the app at these locations. That attractive man or woman by the apples probably isn’t ticking off a shopping list at all, but checking whether there is still a potential date walking around the supermarket to have a drink with. Activity on the app increases as you get closer to the centre of Amsterdam, by the way. So now you know where to go. The flirting peak is clearly on Sunday at the end of the afternoon.

Good locations where you have an even better chance of finding a date: the AH supermarkets on Cornelis Troostplein and Elandsgracht, as well as the one on Overtoom and Dirk on Warmoesstraat. Though I’m guessing other supermarkets and cities are doing pretty well too.
