Snackspert is lyrical about the hotdog from Frenchie To Go

Snackspert Hotdog Frenchie To Go

Eke Bosman, better known as Instagram phenomenon @snackspert, ate his first frikandel as a baby, hates vlammetjes, has devoured at least 1,500 burgers in his life, suspects there is more mayonnaise in his body than blood, and shares his best and worst snack reviews on FavorFlav every other week. This week, he gave one of his snacks no fewer than 5 (!) stars.

Tomatillo burrito, Amsterdam

Well hello and welcome to a new episode of ‘Is It Vomit or Food? Let’s Eat It!’ and this time we have a very fun candidate in store for you: this ‘vomit or food’ from Tomatillo in Amsterdam! Any somewhat loyal follower knows that I’ve ordered here several times before and was impressed every time, but I wasn’t aware that you could also have your burrito completely submerged in green and red tomatillo sauce (spicy, of course). As if you’re having your own private bukkake party at home! This is pumping. The carnitas (pork) burrito was really well filled, with delicious meat, although I felt there was slightly too little chipotle sauce inside — I made that criticism last time too, so be it. But a burrito like this is, as long as you don’t have mysophobia, so much tastier when it’s drenched in sauce like that. I always say: better to be under the sauce than above the sauce. Give it a try yourself sometime. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Dr. Oetker Big Americans BBQ jackfruit pizza

And there it is at last, Dr. Oetker’s vegan pizza. And they’ve been very clever, because they use jackfruit, generally an excellent vegetarian alternative to pulled pork. And that on a Big American pizza, the thickest pizza in the supermarket. I have to say: it’s pretty successful. The jackfruit has a wonderfully firm, but not tough, texture, and the BBQ sauce is spot-on. I can barely taste the plant-based cheese, which can be seen as both a positive and a negative. Positive because it doesn’t taste like that disgusting fake cheese, negative because you really do miss the cheesy flavour in this pizza. Another minor criticism is that although the BBQ sauce is tasty, it lacks a little sparkle. It needs a bit more kick, despite the fact that there’s red onion on the pizza. But I have to admit, this is a good first vegan pizza from the Big Americans collection. Dig in. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ½

Frenchie To Go, Paris

Oh man, I want to apologise in advance for the coming weeks, because I’ll regularly be sharing a Paris tip that you may (I don’t like the word ‘must’) use. For example, go to FTG, short for Frenchie To Go. Because they have a hotdog there the likes of which you’ve never seen before. It’s a hotdog that makes all American hotdogs pale in comparison, because it’s of exceptional quality. The beef sausage has a firm but very flavourful texture. And then there’s the bun. So thick, but also so soft. Fried in a mega amount of butter, something we’re seeing more and more often in Amsterdam too — just think of Chun’s bun. But believe me, this really makes a hotdog so much better. A must, if you ask me. Even at that price. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
