Snackspert is wildly enthusiastic: “This is a perfect and surprising frikandel!”

Eke Bosman, better known as Instagram phenomenon @snackspert, ate his first frikandel as a baby, hates vlammetjes, has devoured at least 1,000 burgers in his life, suspects there is more mayonnaise in his body than blood, and shares his best and worst snack reviews on FavorFlav every other week. This week: lots of delicious news!

Vegetarian mini mix by Mora

Because we can no longer order far too many bitterballen at a café just because, after five specialty beers, it suddenly seems like an amazing idea, we need to keep doing this during coronavirus times—but sadly at home. Because Saturday only truly feels complete with a bittergarnituur. And so, especially if you have a vegetarian friend over, you could get this vegetarian mini mix by Mora, for example. And you know what? With this one, I could barely tell the difference from the real thing. And that’s no joke, because in general, supermarket mini mixes don’t exactly consist of the best meat you’ve ever snacked on anyway. So yes, the vegetarian frikandellen (tasty! But they don’t beat the real ones), kipcorns (actually tastier than the chicken ones, no joke), bitterballen (just as tasty, I swear), and cheese balls (strangely tastier than the individual cheese balls, but these are also smaller and creamier)—these snacks really aren’t bad at all. Very tasty, even. I dare call them a real recommendation. So go wild and stuff these vegetarian mini mixes in your mouth. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fries from Fritures D’Anvers, Zandvoort

Yes, sorry, this photo looks just as sad as a picture of a PSV defender who has just scored an own goal, but sometimes I simply can’t make it look any better than it is. And that’s strange, because these snacks from Fritures D’Anvers in Zandvoort are unbelievably delicious. Especially the frikandel speciaal with sambal instead of curry, but also with mayonnaise and onions. And you think: what a small container—but fortunately, it’s still the same amount as a regular frikandel. So don’t worry. The combination of (mild) sambal, mayo, and onions is truly astonishing—and perhaps even better than the average frikandel speciaal with curry. The meat was wonderfully tender too, and it was fried perfectly. Yes, this is simply a perfect and surprising frikandel. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

And those fries? Yes, top-notch too. With delicious stewed meat. Very tender, a little sour, exactly how I like it. It doesn’t have the wow factor of the aforementioned frikandel speciaal, but it really is utterly moreish. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The speciaaltje and the satay burger from FEBO

I understand you. I really do. Before I started this page, I always ordered the same thing at the snack bar. But let yourself be surprised for once—you wouldn’t believe how many other gems are sitting in the snack display at your favorite snack bar. Just recently—and to my great regret—I ordered FEBO’s speciaaltje for the first time in my life. A snack containing beef and pork, onion, and herbs. I’d never had it before because I always insisted on ordering a frikandel or kroket. Even though the speciaaltje is an absolute banger. It’s like that one 538 hit you hear every day but that never gets boring. Deliciously herby, wonderfully crispy, genuinely creamy. Pure enjoyment. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

As for that satay burger, there’s actually not much I need to say about it. Nice burger, decent satay sauce, but next time I’ll simply order the classic grill burger. Once you go grillburger you never go back or something. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
