Be warned: these were the grossest snacks of 2020 according to Snackspert

tosti Jumbo

Eke Bosman, better known as Instagram phenomenon @snackspert, ate his first frikandel as a baby, hates vlammetjes, has devoured at least 1,000 burgers in his life, suspects there is more mayonnaise in his body than blood, and shares his snack reviews on FavorFlav every other week. As if corona wasn’t bad enough, there were also a number of snacks that made you want to cry. You’d better leave these three monstrosities alone if you still want to enjoy life even a little.

La Trappe bitterballen

If you’re ever held up and they say ‘your bitterballen or your life’, make sure you have these La Trappe bitterballen with you, because you’ll definitely be the last one laughing. Let me admit right away: these are the grossest bitterballen I have ever eaten in my life. The ragout filling is partly made with La Trappe Quadrupel beer (10% alcohol) and is supposed to provide a delicious specialty beer flavor, but guys, delicious + delicious isn’t necessarily delicious. Although they are BITTERballen, this is the most bitter snack I have ever had in my mouth— even more bitter than your angry ex, so to speak. I’d rather watch the lost World Cup final between the Netherlands and Spain 12 times in a row than eat this again. Seriously, do yourself a favor and banish these snacks from the shelves. Gross, man. ⭐️

Soup with cocktail sausages

Tomato cocktail-sausage soup. You read that right. Cocktail sausages in tomato soup, because we do live in 2020 and these days we can hold meetings via our laptops—so why can’t pieces of cocktail sausage be put in tomato soup and then sold in the supermarket? Well, because it is unbelievably gross. Seriously, abnormally disgusting. The cocktail sausages are unbelievably bitter, the tomato soup is floppier than your average dishcloth, and then there’s that “packed with vegetables” claim, right? That’s just pure poison. It genuinely tastes of nothing. I’d much rather watch the Twilight films four more times than eat a soup like this again. Or no, even stronger: I’d bet that the grossest porno you’ve ever seen still has better chemistry between the two actors than this combination of tomato soup and cocktail sausages. This is a truly terrible product, I’m sorry, I’m just angry. ⭐️

Salami cheese basil grilled sandwich

salami cheese-basil grilled sandwich

If Buzzfeed were to make a list called ‘These are the best expectation vs. reality examples’, then I’m 99% sure this salami cheese-basil grilled sandwich from Jumbo would make the top five. What a measly grilled sandwich, even though it only cost 1 euro. But still. Little salami, perfectly okay basil sauce (I have to admit that, sorry), and cheese that looks more like cheddar than good, regular cheese. Because seriously: cheddar combined with salami? That’s like spreading herb butter on your bread with chocolate sprinkles, super gross, man. It’s not as if I’m going to get into a police car to put out a fire, either. It simply doesn’t make sense, and it doesn’t taste like anything. No, this is one huge disappointment. What a waste. ⭐️
