Snackspert looks back: these are the best snacks of 2020
Eke Bosman, better known as Instagram phenomenon @snackspert, ate his first frikandel as a baby, hates vlammetjes, has devoured at least 1,000 burgers in his life, suspects there’s more mayonnaise in his body than blood, and shares his snack reviews on FavorFlav every other week. 2020 was an insane year, including in the snack world. Fortunately, there was also plenty to enjoy. According to Snackspert, these are the best snacks of 2020.
Kimchi and pork dumplings from Bibigo
In times of crisis, we have to help one another, so I’m willing to share THE tip for these times: get Bibigo’s kimchi-pork dumplings and believe me, you’ll never want any other dumplings in your home again. Really handy when you’re in home isolation, simply hungry, and have to choose between raisins and dumplings. Well, papa knows what he’d choose. I got these dumplings at Shilla, near Gelderlandplein in Amsterdam. Ideal if you live nearby, because you can drop everything right now and get to this Asian supermarket as quickly as possible. Why are they so delicious? Because the kimchi flavor is SO good. Deliciously spicy, that fermented cabbage, combined with wonderfully tender pork. It’s simply the ideal snack to eat before, after, or even during dinner. If you don’t live in Amsterdam, I recommend doing the following: 1. Go to Google.nl. 2. Search for: kimchi-pork dumplings Bibigo + *your town*. 3. Order or pick them up at your favorite Asian grocery store. Thank me later. Have a lovely weekend. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

De Vlam Bapao
You have to be consistent, because otherwise there’s no logic and nobody can follow you anymore. So when I reviewed Lidl’s frozen bapaos a month ago and then gave them 5 stars, I felt that they couldn’t be topped. In terms of supermarket bapaos, that is—let’s make that clear. But guys, I’ve found even better ones at the supermarket: Topking’s vlam bapaos. Holy shit. Flames. And do you know why? Because they’re so incredibly well filled. Not like a bag of chips, but there’s simply a delicious amount of filling in such a ball of dough. Just check my Story and you’ll see what I mean. And I haven’t even mentioned the flavor yet: wonderfully creamy and deliciously spicy. Not too hot, but more like the heat you feel sitting in the sun at 25 degrees. Seriously, what a delicious bapao. And because Lidl got 5 stars, I’m feeling generous again now. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

IKEA vegan balls
It’s a beautiful day to review IKEA’s ‘plant balls’. Yes, no joke: the Swedish furniture giant now has a vegan version of its famous meatballs. And you can simply buy a bag, so at home all you have to do is put them in the microwave for two minutes. I’m about to make a dangerous, controversial, but completely honest statement: I think I like these better than the regular balls. And that has to do with, among other things, the texture. The mouthfeel is even better than taking a belly shot on an average Thursday night when you’re in the mood because you’ve had 7 beers and the döner roll is already in your stomach. No, seriously, the flavor is excellent, not too chemical, and it’s remarkably juicy (see the swipe)—simply even better than the meat version. How? IKEA’s vegan hot dog is particularly disgusting, but these vegan balls? Wow. I’m full of questions, but I do have some urgent advice: try them yourself and hopefully you’ll agree with me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
