Snackspert tasted all the new Pringles: ‘Yes, they’re actually super spicy, but the cheese flavor is SO weird’

Eke Bosman, better known as Instagram phenomenon @snackspert, ate his first frikandel as a baby, hates vlammetjes, has already devoured at least 1,500 burgers in his lifetime, suspects there’s more mayonnaise than blood in his body, and shares his best and worst snack reviews on FavorFlav every other week. This week’s menu: chips, sandwiches, and a… donut burger?

Pringles, supermarket
There’s a new line of Pringles chips! And I’m happy about that, because they’re all chips that make your mouth burn as if there were a sea of flames in a circus. There are four in total, so let me discuss them one by one, briefly and to the point.

First up: the extra-hot cheese & chili chips. I really didn’t like these. Yes, they’re actually super spicy, but the cheese flavor is SO weird. It tastes far too chemical, making me genuinely think it came straight out of a failed chemistry class. ⭐️⭐️
——————————————————
The ‘slightly spicy’ sour cream is delicious! I think adding a spicy kick to sour cream is a great idea anyway; normally I get bored of the flavor quickly. Not here. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The spicy BBQ is also very good. A somewhat smoky, yet very pronounced salty flavor that makes your tongue tingle as if you were at TROS Muziekfeest op het Plein. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The spicy chorizo is fine, but not at all remarkable in flavor. I miss the unique chorizo taste; now it tastes like chorizo’s tamed little brother. What a shame! ⭐️⭐️ ½

Donut burger, Rotisserie, Amsterdam

A donut burger?! Yes, now I have your attention, don’t I? The new monthly special from one of Amsterdam’s best burger joints, Rotisserie, is a very special one, created with tattoo artist @trobbies: fried chicken on a sweet donut bun. And yes, with icing, and yes, with sugar. But it’s actually not that crazy, because we’ve been eating chicken & waffles for lunch for a few years now. It should be allowed. And you know what, it really says enough that I promised my dining companion I’d share the burger fairly, but then promptly ate the whole thing myself. What a beauty in the mouth, good grief. It all works: the sweet Japanese mayonnaise, the chicken brushed with sriracha, the crispy bacon, but above all the sweet, soft bun that reminds you of the first candy floss you ate as a child at the fair. Insanely delicious. I seriously think Rotisserie would do well to add it permanently to the menu, because this is the kind of ‘signature dish’ you want to be known for as a burger joint. This makes you unique (though they already were, but still); this is a burger people would take a detour for. And yes, it’s not all good news, because the slice of cheese was a cold disappointment that could easily have been fixed. So: melt that little problem from now on and you’ve got a winner. Hats off. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ½
