Snackspert: “This new snack is of national importance to every Dutch citizen who loves cheese”

Eke Bosman, better known as Instagram phenomenon @snackspert, ate his first frikandel as a baby, hates vlammetjes, has already devoured at least 1,000 burgers in his life, suspects that there is more mayonnaise than blood in his body, and shares his best and worst snack reviews every other week on FavorFlav. Nacho and chili cheese bites by Mora
Yes, pay attention now. This is of national importance to every Dutch citizen who loves cheese. In other words: everyone. Mora has made a very smart move by launching two new cheese snacks: the nacho cheese bites and the chili cheese bites. And you know what the very best part is? They’re also incredibly tasty. Especially the nacho cheese bites: a deliciously rich cheddar flavour on the inside and the lovely crunch of well-baked nachos. It’s a bit like getting an excellent bowl of nachos with gloriously melted cheese on top on a terrace. That feeling. Really top-notch. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

Then there are the chili cheese bites: also very tasty in terms of cheese, but in my opinion they could really be quite a bit spicier. It’s called chili for a reason, right? You can tease the consumer with some heat too. But that cheesy flavour makes up for a lot. ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

Rosemary sea salt focaccia by Albert Heijn

Here’s a warning: the new rosemary sea salt focaccia from the Albert Heijn bakery section may not be what you most want to put in your mouth. Unless you’ve just drunk 2.8 litres of water and really need something dry in your mouth, because this is seriously the driest bread roll I’ve eaten in maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaany months. Don’t get me wrong, the combination of rosemary and sea salt is really lovely flavour-wise, but good heavens, this is so dry that it’s an insult to all focaccias in the world. It could even suck all the sexiness out of a room where a steamy orgy is taking place. It’s the reason that even the pun “focacci-no” doesn’t get a yellow card here, because this bread roll: no, no, no. So dry. ⭐️

Draadjesvlees croquette by Croquetten Boutique, Utrecht

A must if you’re in Utrecht, really: get a croquette at Croquetten Boutique. A long time ago, I was already veeeery impressed by their cheese croquette, but I hadn’t yet tried their traditional draadjesvlees (team draadjes here!!!) croquette. And yes, you could devote many words to it, but this is simply a very good croquette. I might have made the crust a little crispier, but the filling does what it’s supposed to do: caress your taste buds so thoroughly that you automatically forget all about your panda points. Good Burgundian flavour, if I do say so myself. It’s also nice that they put not only mustard but mayo in the container too; they mix nicely. Long live the fancy croquette. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
