We recently concluded in the newsroom: hiding snacks from your housemates is more than justified. During quarantine and beyond. That it’s genuinely essential in some cases is proven by the Instagram account Mannenbeetjes.

Because what is it with people—and honestly, women do this too—who leave the tiniest little bit for you. Is it meant kindly? Like: ‘look, darling, there’s some left for you too’. Is it pure laziness? Throwing an empty package in the bin is quite the herculean task, after all. Or simply ostrich behaviour? ‘As long as I pretend I didn’t see it, I don’t have to do anything about it either?’
