Supervet: Musée du Fromage, or the Cheese Museum, is opening in Paris

Cheese is the most delicious food in the world. Period. The more cheese, the better. That’s why I have a trip to Paris planned in my calendar. Obviously because France is one of the best European destinations for cheese lovers. But I specifically want to go to Paris because the Musée du Fromage is opening there. Oui, a real cheese museum is coming to Paris!

Now that’s a museum I can wholeheartedly say ‘yes’ to. Literally, because at the Musée du Fromage you can also sample plenty of cheeses.
We need to start making cheese
The museum is the brainchild of cheesemaker Pierre Brisson. The cheesemaker came to the French capital around 15 years ago. There, he opened a cheese school: Paroles de Fromagers (where can we sign up?!). Musée du Fromage is his latest project. Brisson mainly wants to highlight the traditional craft of cheesemaking. French agriculture and the history of cheesemaking will also be covered extensively.
Why did he want to do this so badly? Cheese is an enormously important aspect of French culture. No fewer than 246 different types of cheese are made in the country. But young people aren’t exactly rushing to take jobs as cheesemakers: they don’t find working in the countryside appealing. As a result, there are fewer and fewer workers in the cheese-production industry. Brisson hopes to make the profession interesting again with his museum. A wonderful mission, because naturally we want to keep enjoying those 246 different types of French cheese to the fullest in the future.

See, smell, taste (and buy)
At the museum, you follow a route that takes you through the world of cheese. First, you learn more about the culture surrounding cheese and the history of the product. Further along the route, the production process is explored. In a central exhibition, you can watch all kinds of demonstrations about making cheese. And as I said: you’ll also get to taste it. The best part of the museum, of course. The route ends in a shop where you can stock up for home.
Off to Paris
The Musée du Fromage will open its doors on Friday, June 14, 2024. So you can easily start planning that trip to Paris. Need another restaurant tip? At Relais de l’Entrecôte, you can eat the most, most delicious entrecôte with fries. The anticipation can already begin, because we managed to get the recipe for the delicious sauce served with their entrecôte.
