The first dessert restaurant in the Netherlands opens this summer

De Dessertclub

A must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth: at the end of July, the Netherlands’ first dessert-only restaurant will open. So if you love dessert, you definitely have to visit the new De Dessertclub, where you’ll be served no fewer than seven courses!

In New York, Berlin and Bali, it’s a tried-and-tested concept: a restaurant where you can eat nothing but desserts. It doesn’t exist in the Netherlands yet, but that will soon change with De Dessertclub. The pop-up dessert-only restaurant opens on 23 July (and, since it’s a pop-up, will close again at the beginning of September) and can accommodate a maximum of 60 people per evening.

Steak made of chocolate

De Dessertclub, located at the Zwitsalterrein in Apeldoorn, offers an evening-long seven-course experience by master pastry chef Bart de Gans. Desserts only? Yes, really! All kinds of flavours, aromas and colours make an appearance. And sometimes you’re completely thrown off the scent. For example, they serve a steak made of… chocolate as the main course! Thanks to the different flavours, you don’t feel at all as though you’re eating nothing but desserts; it really is a meal-replacing menu.

The most delicious bonbon

Bart is no stranger to the world of sweet treats; he won the prize for the most delicious bonbon in 2012 and is a candidate and judge in national and international professional competitions. Master pastry chef Bart: “The desserts are by no means only sweet; they also contain enough savoury elements to create the right balance throughout the evening. In our dishes, we make as much use as possible of natural sugars and sweeteners from pure ingredients. This prevents a sugar bomb and gives our guests a variety of desserts.”

Fancy it?

A seven-course experience at De Dessertclub costs €55, with the option to add a wine or cocktail pairing.
