The new Restaurant Guide Lekker 2021 is out, but in a different format than in previous years

The new restaurant guide Lekker500 is now in stores. But its format is markedly different from last year. Restaurant Guide Lekker 2021 does not contain a ranking of the top 100 best restaurants in the Netherlands.

Last year, Restaurant Inter Scaldes in Kruiningen, Zeeland, was (once again) number one in the Top 100 of restaurant guide Lekker500. Second place went, once again, to De Librije, run by Jonnie and Thérèse Boer, in Zwolle. Tribeca in Heeze, Brabant, was number 3 last year. This new, special edition is a guide without a ranking, as an ode to the heroes of the hospitality industry.
Forced to close their doors
All restaurants from the 2020 guide that were still in existence have been included in the latest edition. By the time it went to press, 6% of the 500 best restaurants in the Netherlands had (been forced to) close, and this percentage continues to rise. In addition, the editors included a selection of 61 restaurants, chosen from tips submitted by the 500 restaurateurs, 51 inspectors and hundreds of readers’ responses. This year’s restaurant descriptions clearly show the impact of coronavirus on the businesses.
#lekkervoorlater
Lekker500 may have become a kind of #lekkervoorlater due to the second hospitality shutdown of 2020, but fortunately we know one thing for sure: everyone continues to enjoy good food. Hopefully, this special Lekker500 will make a positive contribution to the hospitality industry, and hospitality in particular, and inspire everyone to dine out again as soon as it is possible.

The 2021 edition of Lekker500 is available in stores from today (27 October) for €14.99 and can also be ordered via lekker.nl/bestel
