The positive effects of alcohol but no pounding headache: this drink can do it

Endless drinks without having a hangover the next day; we’d all love that. But we also all know it’s an illusion. But what if you could drink something that makes you feel just as pleasantly relaxed as that cocktail, but without the massive hangover? This drinks brand claims to have found the solution.

When we have a hangover, we turn into a bottomless pit and sometimes have a hair-of-the-dog beer. But with this new drink from The Social Drinks, all that misery is a thing of the past. Because with their new Sentia, a botanical drink, the hangover doesn’t come later.
Carefully formulated
The drink was created by David Nutt, a leading professor who developed Sentia together with botanical alchemist Vanessa Jacoby. All the ingredients in Sentia were carefully selected, both for their flavor and for the effect they have on the brain’s GABAA receptor.
How does that work?
And now you’re probably thinking, ‘GABAA-what?!’ When you drink a glass of wine, alcohol essentially attaches itself to this receptor. This makes us feel more relaxed and sociable. The Sentia drink does exactly the same thing, meaning it offers the same positive effects alcohol can have, but without a pounding headache the next day. According to Professor Nutt, Sentia tastes best when mixed with a tonic or cola.
Not for everyone
Although the drink is safe, much more research still needs to be done. For example, it has mainly been tested on people between the ages of 25 and 40 who take a conscious approach to their health, and it is therefore only recommended for this group. Pregnant women, former alcohol addicts and people taking medication did not participate in the test, which is why Professor Nutt advises against them drinking it.
Available to buy?
A bottle of the ‘miracle cure’ costs 20 dollars. Sentia is not (yet) available in the Netherlands. But if you don’t want to drink alcohol for an evening, why not try an alcohol-free gin and tonic or this alcohol-free wine that top sommeliers are raving about—just as delicious!
