In the Netherlands, vending machines have really taken off. But did you think we were advanced when it comes to inserting money, opening a little door, and getting food? Think again: all over the world, vending machines are filled with the most bizarre things. We could really use these seventeen crazy vending machines in the Netherlands too!

Suddenly craving Norwegian salmon, you’re walking through the center of Singapore and the fish shop has just closed. Bad luck? Not at all—there’s a machine where you can pull out a piece of salmon. Ideal! And what about a Coke machine that spits out a soft drink when you hug it? Or a vending machine with surprise drinks? Yippee, those machines are so much fun—why haven’t they made their way into Dutch shopping centers yet?

Stealing loose change

We Dutch are pretty creative with these machines too. Some farms use them to sell fresh eggs, vegetables, or fruit. Handy: no tin can filled with coins to be stolen, and no one needs to stand nearby to keep an eye on the stock. And what about the sausage-roll vending machine? Why it hasn’t been installed all over the country yet, is a mystery to me.
