These Angostura nuts complete your drinks spread

Roasting your own nuts is such a good idea! The difference compared with pre-packaged nuts from the supermarket is truly enormous: you can give them any flavors you like, and when it comes to freshness and aroma, they’re unbeatable (except perhaps for a bag of fresh nuts from the nut stall). Be sure to make these too, with this surprising ingredient:

Angostura bitters! You know, that little bottle you once bought because it appeared in a cocktail recipe (you might as well go ahead and make those pisco sours too), but which is now gathering a little dust in your home bar. Fortunately, you can also simply cook with it, and while we previously encouraged you to chef up the Angostura onion dip, these nuts really complete your drinks spread!
How to make Angostura nuts for drinks
- Melt the butter with the Angostura bitters in a large microwave-safe bowl or a roomy saucepan over medium-high heat.
- Stir in the sugar, salt and cinnamon.
- The sugar does not need to dissolve completely, but the sauce should be thoroughly hot.
- Add the nuts to the bowl or pan and toss with a spoon or spatula until they are all coated.
- Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and pour the nuts onto it.
- Separate them from one another as much as possible.
- Roast for about 15 minutes in the center of the oven, until they are nicely golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes before separating them further.
- Let cool completely and serve.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container or jar.
- Incredibly delicious with a cold beer or a whiskey on the rocks!
