These Are Apparently the Worst Dishes in the World, Based on 600,000 Reviews
You’ve probably ordered a dish at some point that you didn’t fully understand. A meal that piqued your curiosity, but ultimately turned into more of an “okay, this isn’t for me” moment. But it could be worse, according to a study by TasteAtlas. The platform collected no fewer than 600,000 reviews from around the world, and they reveal that there are dishes that aren’t exactly on everyone’s wish list…
We’re taking you through the ‘worst’ dishes in the world — at least, if we’re to believe the taste buds of these 600,000 reviewers.
Blodplat: blood as a flavoring
You thought you’d tried everything, but Finland has a major surprise in store: Blodplat. This dish consists of dumplings made with rye or barley flour, but wait, it gets even better… you guessed it: animal blood. It’s served with a mix of bacon, pork, butter, and a little lingonberry jam. We’re not saying you shouldn’t try it, but consider yourself warned.
Spain: 3 dishes in the top 10
At number two is Bocadillo de sardinas, a sardine sandwich from Spain. Although Spain is famous for dishes such as paella, croquetas, tapas, and churros, this dish apparently doesn’t really appeal to people. And that’s not all, because Spanish dishes have a habit of raising eyebrows. Spain has no fewer than three dishes in the top 10! Angulas a la cazuela, a Basque dish with spicy eel, and Faves a la Catalana, broad beans cooked in stock and served with blood sausage, also rank highly on the list.
