After binge-watching Netflix’s Street Food in one go, I immediately started looking for plane tickets. That’s where I need to go. But where exactly is ‘there’? Netflix does mention the names and cities, but not the addresses. I looked them up for you, made a map and am sharing it here. Long live the internet.

Jajan Pasar Mbah Satinem

Mbah Satinem is known as the master of jajan pasar, a sweet dish made with palm sugar, sticky rice, cassava and coconut. She learned her extremely precise and traditional recipe from her mother, with whom she sold jajan pasar from their home. These days, she makes the dish with the help of her husband and daughter and has a stall where fans queue for hours for the sweet treat. And not just anyone: Suharto, the former president of Indonesia, is a regular customer.

She may have passed the age of 100, but Mbah Lindu still makes her beloved gudeg, a dish of stewed jackfruit that is sometimes served with egg, chicken or crispy fried beef. Lindu’s recipe contains red onions, garlic, coriander seeds, bay leaf and galangal. She swears that even if someone takes over her business one day, the recipe will not change.
