The road to the best supermarket frikandel is paved with bumps and potholes. But luckily, we have our snack hero Snackspert! He scoured eight supermarkets and subjected the frikandellen to a serious test. Which frikandellen should you buy for the ultimate indulgence? Snackspert will tell you!

When it comes to frikandellen, Snackspert is the biggest fan of the XXL del. His motto is therefore: ‘If you come across a frikandel XXL, see it as a blessing.’ Yes, that is quite a statement, but our snack hero is clearly convinced. If you come across such a behemoth, you simply have to order it.

Big frikandel test

A quick disclaimer: Snackspert tested the Airfryer frikandellen. Because, in Snackspert’s words, for the real deep-frying experience, you are better off supporting your local snack bar. An added bonus: no smell in the house. Notably, supermarket Plus was not included in the test. The reason is very simple: Plus had no frikandellen and therefore could not participate. Okay, now on to the winners.

Which brown pleasure baton tastes the best?

The top 8

1. Beckers: fantastic, well seasoned, great texture!
2. Mora: always very good, the meat holds together well
3. G’woon: nice texture but not well seasoned
4. Jumbo: not exciting enough
5. Albert Heijn: texture is perfectly fine, but once again an under-seasoned own-brand frikandel
6. Lidl: little flavor and limp
7. Aldi: not good at all, bitter
8. Dirk: it seems as if it’s vegetarian, terrible!

Both very good

The difference between Beckers and Mora is not great, but there can only be one winner. And Snackspert genuinely thinks Beckers is really very good. So turn on your Airfryer and throw some frikandellen in your basket. To simply slide them down in one go, or try making a Frikandellington or loaded fries with frikandel. There are possibilities aplenty with the most popular guest at every party.
