These Pizza Sticks Are Your Favorite Sinterklaas Snack This Year

Sint could fill his entire steamboat with presents, but we’re only looking forward to one thing: all the food waiting for us. Spiced cookies, chocolate letters, speculaas… We’re sprinkling — uh — stuffing ourselves with it all. For your Sinterklaas snack board, Lidl now has a delicious addition: these fun Sint pizza sticks.

This year, Lidl is your (holy) place to be if — like us — you can’t resist your December 5 cravings. Chocolate letters, for example, which are now available in a deliciously luxurious version on the shelves. And also the famous croquette letter: the snack that made me shoot my mitre off with excitement. These pizza sticks are the latest Sinterklaas gift Lidl is giving us. Whether you’ve been good this year or not, you deserve this savory snack either way.
Making pizza sticks: here’s how
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and line two baking trays with parchment paper.
- Dust your work surface with flour and roll out the dough with a rolling pin.
- Roll it out into a sheet at least 30 cm high and 3 mm thick.
- Spread the puff pastry with tomato tapenade and sprinkle with Italian herbs.
- Divide the grated cheese over the tomato tapenade.
- Cut the puff pastry into narrow strips 1.5 cm wide. Hold a strip of puff pastry at both ends and carefully twist it in opposite directions to create a twisted shape. Repeat this for all the strips.
- Place the twisted puff pastry sticks in the shape of a staff, S or P on the baking tray lined with parchment paper. Leave a little space between each twist.
- Bake the twists for approximately 8 to 12 minutes until cooked through and golden brown. Remove the pizza twists from the oven and let them cool briefly. Serve the pizza twists with green pesto and the sauce of your choice.
