The winners of the Best Chef Awards 2025: Rasmus Munk retains his title

The Best Chef Awards celebrate chefs who excel in creativity, craftsmanship and innovation. Together with Ana Roš of Hiša Franko from Slovenia and Himanshu Saini of Trèsind Studio in the United Arab Emirates, Rasmus Munk was honoured as a true culinary pioneer.

What makes Rasmus Munk so special, and why does he remain the best chef in the world?

Rasmus Munk – the visionary chef of Alchemist

This year, Rasmus Munk was named the best chef in the world for the second time, a title he holds thanks to his unwavering passion and creative vision. At his restaurant Alchemist, science, art and theatre come together to turn every dinner into an unforgettable experience. It is therefore no coincidence that Alchemist is one of the most difficult restaurants to book, with more than 10,000 (!) people waiting ahead of you.

Ana Roš – the chef putting Slovenia on the map

In second place is Ana Roš, chef of Hiša Franko in Slovenia. She has put Slovenia on the culinary world map through her bold flavours and the use of Slovenian terroir in her dishes. With a distinct focus on local ingredients and a strong international influence, Ana brings together tradition and innovation in a fusion.

Himanshu Saini – reinventing Indian cuisine

Himanshu Saini, chef of Trèsind Studio in the United Arab Emirates, came third. He reinterprets Indian cuisine with modernist precision and great respect for tradition. His culinary approach has opened the door to a renewed perspective on Indian gastronomy.

  • Three knives (The Best): 126 chefs achieved more than 80% of the maximum score.
  • Two knives (World-Class): 236 chefs achieved 40% or more of the points
  • One knife (Excellent): 421 chefs achieved 20% or more of the points.

Hooray for Nelson Tanate of De Librije!

Remarkably, head chef Nelson Tanate of De Librije received, just like the late Jonnie Boer last year, the highest score of three knives. ‘We are incredibly proud of our chef Nelson Tanate. Today in Milan, he received a three-knife rating at The Best Chef Awards. This means he has received the highest distinction. A wonderful achievement!’ – according to De Librije, and of course we can only agree!
