Thirsty tales

This is the drink your party is still missing: Piñaq

pinaq cocktail

Sometimes you come across a drink that instantly puts you in a good mood. Piñaq is one of those drinks. The brightly colored pineapple comes in various flavors that you can drink neat or use in a tropical cocktail.

Take the bright pink Piñaq pineapple, for example: a blend of rosé, Dutch vodka and French cognac. You can drink it neat (sweet!) with lots of ice, or, another fun option: pour it over your vanilla ice cream. That gives you the adult version of our ultimate guilty pleasure; vanilla ice cream with red Fernandes. Absolutely delicious on those hot summer days – you could almost forget all about that corona misery.

How to make a cocktail with Piñaq Rosé

You need (for 1 cocktail):

2 oz Piñaq Rosé
1 oz strawberry purée
a splash of lime juice
rosé champagne
a few blueberries
ice cubes

Shake all the ingredients well and serve over ice in a wine glass. Add some fresh blueberries and top with rosé champagne. By the way, don’t let the word oz put you off. Liquid quantities are always given in ounces (oz.). No problem if you make cocktails more often, because you probably have some essential tools at home, such as a jigger, also known as a bar measure. These come in various versions with the measurements clearly indicated. If the measuring cup is open on both sides, the large side holds 1 oz, or three centiliters (or 30 ml, as you prefer). If you don’t have a measuring cup, a standard shot glass holds the same amount.

Also delicious: Piñaq Mule

This variation on the cocktail classic Moscow Mule is incredibly easy to make. Here’s what you need:

2 oz Piñaq Original
1 oz Bourbon
1/2 oz lime juice
ginger beer
lime
ginger
ice cubes

The golden pineapple is filled with a tropical blend of ripe pineapple, passion fruit, French cognac and Dutch vodka. You preferably drink this tropical surprise from a copper mug. This material ensures that the flavor of each ingredient comes through more clearly. If you don’t have any copperware at home, a glass works just fine too. Pour the Piñaq, Bourbon and lime juice into a glass filled with ice cubes. Then top with ginger beer. Garnish with a lime wedge and fresh ginger.
