This is the most expensive pancake you can order in the Netherlands
Admittedly, the cheese-and-bacon pancake has long ceased to be the most exciting choice you can make. From spinach pancakes to pancake cake, and from fluffy pancakes to risotto pancakes, the possibilities are endless. So why not dress it up with—just to name something—22-karat gold leaf? That’s what they thought at MOAK Pancakes, at least. There, they serve a pancake called the Golddigger, which comes with quite a price tag.
In any case, it’s already a very clever idea to open a pancake restaurant if you want to get filthy rich. The pancake restaurant is, after all, our national favorite. Put something like the Golddigger on the menu, and as a pancake chef you can be swimming in money.
A Golddigger for the golddiggers among us
How much do you pay for this eye-catching creation? € 100. For that, you could also order a pretty nice pair of shoes or a multi-course dinner at a very decent restaurant.
If you already have to dig pretty deep into your pockets, it only makes sense that you want to know exactly what you’re getting. Well, quite literally a golddigger-style pancake! The 22-karat gold leaf is the most eye-catching addition, but it gets even more over the top. Melted pink ruby chocolate is also poured over a stack of three blueberry pancakes. The stack is then topped with raspberries, blackberries, edible flowers and pineapple caramelized in maple syrup. You also get a scoop of saffron pistachio ice cream and a glass of Luc Belaire Rosé champagne. Plus—and this really makes it a ‘golddigger’—everything is served on a Versace plate with Versace cutlery.
Luxury and more-more-more
The Golddigger has been on the menu at MOAK Pancakes for a while. Still, it fits perfectly into the trend of luxury and more-more-more, which we’ve been craving for some time. Just think of the luxurious (absurdly expensive) fruits that are becoming increasingly popular. Or freakshakes: milkshakes with an excessive number of toppings.
So, € 100, and with this extreme pancake you can feel like a real golddigger for a little while. I do realize, though, that it would be pretty awful if that first pancake turned out badly; a feared phenomenon when making pancakes. Oh well, I think the pancake itself is still the cheapest part of this dish.
