This Is the Most Popular Item on the McDonald’s Menu
I often forget that people sometimes go to McDonald’s and then don’t order a Big Mac, but a Filet-O-Fish or something equally strange. I really don’t understand that at all. The Mac is truly my guilty pleasure, so when I’m there again, I want to enjoy it to the fullest—and for me, that obviously means having a Big Mac. If I didn’t gain a single gram and the Golden Arches were healthy, I would of course order a Quarter Pounder as well, plus a portion of chicken nuggets. And naturally, I’d get the meal, right?
Turns out that not everyone looks forward to that Big Mac quite as much. In fact, it’s not even the most popular item on the entire menu.
Fries before guys
The most popular item is actually the fries. Yes, that does make perfect sense, too. They come with every meal, of course, and they’re simply delicious. Not too crispy (let’s just say they’re limp), wonderfully salty, and that flavor… Yes, I absolutely love these fries (especially with the McDonald’s fries sauce, of course!) too.
It gets even better: the fries have always been the most ordered item on the menu. So that Big Mac, those chicken nuggets—whatever item you can think of—have never managed to knock them off the throne… And a survey also found that the fries receive the fewest complaints. In other words: they’re ordered the most, and people are also the most satisfied with them. They really are doing a good job over there at McDonald’s.

“Easily my pick for the best thing on the McDonald’s menu,” was the verdict after the entire menu was tested (why wasn’t I asked to take part?). McDonald’s fans aren’t the only ones who love the fries, by the way: their fries came second in a competition between lots of different American fries. So of all the chains, there’s only one that serves better fries: Arby’s curly fries (love it!), and we don’t have that here—so shall we just recognize McDonald’s as number one?
