This is the (unexpected) secret ingredient for the most delicious fries

How can you make fries really taste better, without dunking them in a generous dollop of mayo, dipping them in a lake of Joppie sauce or smothering them with onion and curry? You might not get further than ‘a pinch of salt’. I found the secret ingredient that takes your fries to the next level, and it’s probably not what you expect.

Is there anything better than a good plate of fries? We don’t think so. Pretty much everyone can be tempted by that, right? Our fridge is stocked with bags of these divine French fries, our absolute favorite. And we still prefer having a fries feast to cooking gourmet-style or fondue. During my last fries feast, I added a very special ingredient to the fries, after which everyone wanted to know what it was. So now I’m sharing it with you too.
The secret ingredient for delicious fries
What really made my fries so delicious was a generous pinch of tarragon. I read on Reddit that people went absolutely wild for it—and that got me excited too. Is this really such a fantastic addition to an already fantastic dish? Yes, as I discovered. Tarragon tastes peppery, slightly anise-like, mildly sweet, somewhat bitter and fresh at the same time. A perfect addition to your crispy fries. You don’t need to sprinkle loads over them—every single fry doesn’t have to be covered in tarragon. Just enough for you to taste it. Give it a try; it’s incredible!
More tarragon tips
We’re tarragon fans anyway. We’ve already suggested that you add it to practically everything, because it really makes a lot of dishes much better. Season your chicken with it, for example. Use it in a quiche. Stir it into mayonnaise (the kind you eat with your fries or in this salmon burger with grilled asparagus). Sprinkle it over carrots roasted in the oven. Seriously, do it. Get some in the house. This is the new salted caramel, mark my words.
