This is your new favorite dish when you have a hangover: Frikandelli Bolognese

Frikandelli Bolognese

Did you think we’d already covered every possible frikandel combination? You’re wrong. We once again stumbled upon a gem of a frikandel creation: Frikandelli Bolognese. I’m telling you, this exceeds your wildest expectations.

Anyone who dares to think a little outside the box may have already figured out exactly what I’m talking about. If not: this is spaghetti Bolognese in frikandel style. But won’t the Italians get furious about that, I hear you thinking? Yes, I think they will. After all, they also fly off the handle when you put pineapple on your pizza or cook your pasta in a slightly creative way.

But we can’t always take everyone, everywhere, into account. Especially not when you have a hangover.

Frikandel speciaal on your spaghetti

So I’m simply going to tell you how to make Frikandelli Bolognese. You should actually keep it very simple: this is al dente spaghetti with chopped frikandel speciaal on top. Nothing more, nothing less. So what do you do first? Turn on the deep fryer and fry 3 frikandellen in it. In the meantime, cook your spaghetti al dente. Frikandellen ready? Then cut them into small cubes. Next, finely chop an onion, heat your pan well and lightly fry the onions. Then add the fried, chopped frikandellen to the pan.

With (very important!) a very, very large dollop of curry. The frikandel pieces and onion should really be well covered in curry. Don’t be too modest; you need to get rid of that hangover, remember?

Finish your frikandel-onion-curry mixture in the pan with some Italian herbs. See, it does give it a sort of Italian touch after all. After this, it’s just a matter of finishing the dish. Put your al dente spaghetti on a plate, spoon the frikandel mixture over it and top with extra finely chopped onion and a generous dollop of mayo. No, it’s not the prettiest dish you’ll ever eat. But it might be one of the tastiest—especially when you get out of bed six hours after a night out, like a dehydrated pub tiger.

Swearing in the Italian church

This way, you can add another gem to your hangover repertoire. Alongside the McDonald’s toastiburger and Big Mac pizza, that is. Does Frikandelli Bolognese feel a bit like swearing in the Italian church, and do you want to atone for your sins? Then I also have a few tips for the ultimate spaghetti Bolognese for you.

A classic like that also works perfectly as hangover food, as I know from personal experience.
