This woman makes the most beautiful fairy-tale cakes (quickly hide your own clunky cookies)

Well, never mind, I’m throwing in the towel. I can’t even keep a banana bread in shape (it may have something to do with the silicone cake tin), so at home we pretend that’s just delightfully rustic. But this woman is a baker who I think makes us all look bad; the magical creations that come out of her kitchen are simply unreal!

If anyone suddenly feels an overwhelming urge to take on a bake-off with this woman, do let us know—but we’re afraid it would be a pointless exercise. At the lonely peak of fairy-tale cakes stands Liz Joy, art director and sugar artist, and this is what she makes:

A unique, edible world
Internet platform Bored Panda asked Liz about her inspiration and craftsmanship. “I love working with different materials, and I like that a cake is naturally ‘layered.’ I’ve turned a number of fairy tales and children’s-book stories into cakes, and my favorite cakes are the ones I baked for my father, featuring little stories from his youth.” Awww, and sweet too. She also admits to being incredibly proud of what she can do, and says this is a unique medium for her to tell stories. She loves that aspect and tries to create the feeling that you’re taking a peek into a unique, edible world.

They’re each stunning, of course, but we think the Game of Thrones-inspired Khaleesi-with-dragon cake is particularly brilliant. A nice change from a Theon Greyjoy sausage! But once again, they’re all equally gorgeous. Just look!

To admire more of her work, take a look at Liz’s Instagram. And it’s safe to say that the creators of these hilarious baking disasters could probably use a workshop with her… And learn how to make matching nails like those at the same time!
