Today marks the start of Restaurant Week XXL: choose from 500 restaurants
Yes! Restaurant Week officially starts today! That means that this year, too, we can visit 500 restaurants for a reasonably priced menu. And this time it’s not just one week but four: from September 1 through 30, the National Restaurant Week celebrates its XXL edition.
500 different restaurants
Among the 500 participating restaurants this year are no fewer than 50 with one or more Michelin stars. For example, you can enjoy a star-studded dinner at renowned restaurants such as Parkheuvel** in Rotterdam or Graphite* in Amsterdam. Other top restaurants from the Gault Millau guide, such as Restaurant C, Envy and Bridges, are also taking part again this year.
A triumph for the restaurants
It is now more than clear that the hospitality industry has been hit by the coronavirus crisis. Turnover fell by no less than 51.2 percent in recent months. To help restaurants generate the revenue they so desperately need, this year it was decided to extend Restaurant Week by three weeks. Meanwhile, more than 10,000 guests have already reserved their table (the starred restaurants are the most popular and are therefore almost fully booked already), and the number of reservations has risen by 22 percent. A triumph for the restaurants, according to Jeroen van Den Brink, owner of DiningCity.
