Unlimited slurping at the ramen festival

ramen

If there’s one trend we’re happy about in the editorial office, it’s definitely the ramen trend. A few years ago, you still had to get on a plane to Tokyo for a good bowl. Although you can still find the very best in Japan, there are now plenty of places in the Netherlands to get noodle soup. Can’t get enough of it? Then head to the Amsterdam Ramen Festival on 17 February.

Sometimes it’s difficult to choose from the huge variety of different types of ramen. Will you go for the rich tonkotsu made with pork broth and fat, or a chicken-based broth? And how spicy do you want it? Aaah! Fortunately, you won’t have to choose at the ramen festival. Restaurant De Bajes on Utrechtsestraat will be transformed into a ramen paradise for the entire day especially for the occasion.

Signature ramen

There will be all kinds of different stands selling their own signature ramen. This way, you can taste a little of everything and won’t miss out on anything. For example, you can visit two of our favorite restaurants: Vatten Ramen and Tokyo Ramen Iki, as well as Sushilee, Ramen Brothers, KU Kitchen & Bar and Aginamu. Naturally, you’ll also want to eat some other Japanese snacks with your ramen, and that’s been taken care of too. At the festival, you can also enjoy takoyaki, okonomiyaki, fried chicken, yakitori and other Japanese things that are barely pronounceable.

Karaoke

Would you rather shout your love for ramen from the rooftops? Warm up your vocal cords with karaoke, where you can choose from English and Japanese sing-alongs. Ticket sales start on Wednesday 23 January at 12:00 p.m., so be quick—the number of people interested on Facebook has already exceeded 16,000. You can order tickets here from Wednesday.
