We adore the French cuddly chef Alain Caron with his endearing accent, and are therefore happy to sit down at one of his three French restaurants in Amsterdam. This autumn, the culinary specialist will hit the road with the Netherlands’ greatest star chefs in his new BinnensteBuiten programme: Alain ziet sterren.

If there is anyone who knows exactly how to make the most delicious French dishes and knows this cuisine inside out, it is Alain. In his new series, the roles are reversed and Alain visits the restaurants of the most talented chefs, awarded Michelin stars. From northern Texel to the Zeeland coast; Alain travels throughout the country to find out what drives and inspires them.

The life of a star chef

On the agenda are visits to top chef Emile van der Staak, a figurehead of sustainable cooking, who despite all the restrictions caused by coronavirus still managed to obtain two Michelin stars this year; a regular star and a green star. This latter and new star rewards restaurants and chefs who, among other things, work with ethical suppliers.

Alain will also visit chef Jef Schuur on Texel, star chef Syrco Bakker of Pure C** and top chef Hans van Wolde of the Limburg restaurants Beluga* and Brut172**. Noteworthy detail: Hans was forced to close his new restaurant after 10 days because of coronavirus…

In short, it will undoubtedly be an intriguing series in which we get an extensive look into the fascinating and busy lives of top chefs. The three episodes of BinnensteBuiten can be seen on Wednesday 20 October, 17 November and 8 December at 18:50 on NPO 2.
