Warning: return these Heineken bottles, they may contain glass shards
Take care if you have Heineken beer in bottles at home: the company has launched a massive recall because several variants of the 25 cl bottles may contain glass shards.
Heineken is warning about the danger of glass shards breaking loose from the bottom and ending up in the beer. The recall concerns the small (25 cl) screw-cap bottles of Heineken Original, Heineken 0.0 and the new Heineken Silver. So don’t drink it! Check the production code first. And this could involve millions of bottles…
Dangerous stuff
Check the Heineken warning page to check the production code, which you can find on the label or cardboard packaging. Then immediately return this beer to where you bought it. You will get a refund even without a receipt when you return the bottles.
One problem after another
All those bottles will have to be destroyed, which is quite disastrous at a time when there is also a glass shortage (also the immediate reason to return your crates of deposit bottles).
Apologies
Maarten Koudenberg, brewery director at Heineken, says the following: “Safety and quality have always been our highest priority, and we carry out quality checks very regularly. That is why we deeply regret that this product does not meet our high quality standards, and why we have started this recall. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”
Wake-up call
So check the fridge or pantry right away if you ever buy this beer. Especially now that picnic season is starting, we can imagine that these small screw-cap beers are being bought frequently, so it is important to be careful!
